I read something interesting the other day to the effect that the country with the most Nobel Prize winners (Sweden) also has the highest per capita milk consumption. This may seem strange because of all the negative press that milk drinking has gotten lately.

But consider that most of the problems with commercial milk are due to pasteurization. When you heat milk you denature the proteins and destroy the beneficial enzymes and bacteria in it.

This bacteria is said to be beneficial to your digestive system, which in turn has a direct affect on your brain. Researchers on the cutting edge of nutrition and health have discovered that having the right balance of healthy bacteria in the colon is essential to making your brain work properly.

One of the best ways of doing this is drinking raw milk! This is controversial because so called “health authorities” have convinced people that raw milk is unhealthy and dangerous, which is completely untrue.

However it must come from clean dairy farms with healthy clean cows, and not from factory farms where overcrowding of animals and use of hormones and antibiotics contribute to an unhealthy environment for dairy cows.

Check out my web page on raw milk at the link below:

http://www.longevity-and-antiaging-secrets.com/raw-milk.html

I am going to purchase raw milk and report back to you on my experiences with it. Many adults are supposedly lactose intolerant, but my guess is that part of this problem stems from the pasteurization process and it’s effect on the milk.

There is so much focus on probiotics now that they are being mainstreamed and sol in supermarkets in the form of products like Activia and promoted in commercial yogurt, which unfortunately is also pasteurized.

Raw unpasteurized (and unhomogenized) milk is the real deal and if we ever are able to turn back the laws and regulations that are being used to stamp out raw milk, I think we will see a new super food available to the public once more.

Mark McAafee of Organic Pastures explains why organic dairy farming and raw milk are the way to go!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUG-4uUbjbY

You won’t look at regular pasteurized milk and other dairy products the same way again. Pasteurization is heat treatment that damages and denatures the milk. This kills ALL of the bacteria, good and bad.

This explains why so many people seem to show allergic reactions to pasteurized milk products.

If you have never heard Bruce Hornsby play or seen him in person, I urge you to do so. I think he is the most unique and expressive pianist on popular music today. He would never be considered a great vocalist, but his music will inspire and delight anyone lucky enough to hear it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8h4S0aOI10

This is a 36 minute set at the Stone Mountain Performance Center in Brownfield, Maine. He excels at these smaller venues. There are elements of country music, pop, jazz, classical, bluegrass, swing, ect. in his playing. Although he is considered a pop musician there’s a strong country feel to his music.

His piano solos are legendary and often encompass several musical styles (classical, jazz, country) all in the same musical piece. The lyrics of the songs are often about people, places, and things he grew up around in his native Virginia. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

If you don’t have integrity, you have nothing. You can’t buy it. You can have all the money in the world, but if you are not a moral and ethical person, you really have nothing.

Age Better #22 – Effortless Stress Management with HPP!

We are well into March, and although spring is right around the corner,
somebody forgot to tell mother nature! I can’t wait for the warmer weather,
and it’s taking it’s time getting here.

My oldest nephew Andrew is enjoying being a new father. He says that it
hasn’t completely hit him yet, but he seems to be fitting comfortably into
this new role, and really excited about his new son “Tyler James!”

Two new babies were added to the family this winter and will be
experiencing their first Easter Sunday. Easter comes early this year, and
I’m hoping that the weather is at least somewhat mild so that we can enjoy
the holiday.

They are still way too young for their first “Easter egg hunt,” but I
am a bit excited for them as Easter was so very special for me, and I
believe will be for them when they are a bit older.

They say stress is a killer…which is literally true, but nobody ever
explains why. Until you understand what it’s really about, you can’t
effectively control it, much less eliminate it.

So here’s my “two cents” on stress…

Your autonomic nervous system is divided into two branches, the
“sympathetic” branch which essentially gets you ready to deal with
crisis and emergencies by preparing you for “fight or flight.” This is
really useful in life threatening situation, but not otherwise.

http://www.longevity-and-antiaging-secrets.com/autonomic-nervous-system.html

The other branch is called the “parasympathetic.” It deals with
digestion, elimination, and restoring your energy. It’s engaged while you
are at rest and there is no danger or crisis to react to.

The sympathetic nervous system evolved when early humans were subject to
constant danger in their environment from attacks by wild animals. In
modern life we are not subject to the same danger, but react as if we were.

We respond to emotional stress that triggers the same reactions from our
sympathetic nervous system. Our body reacts by producing cortisol which is
a stress hormone, and  also raises blood sugar to provide energy for
whatever our emergency requires.

When we are stressed we spend way too much time in “sympathetic” mode,
and this lays the foundation for chronic illness. Since our body’s response
to stress is hard wired by evolution, we need to change how we perceive and
react to various situations.

I’ve always believed the best way to solve problems is the way that
requires the least effort, because you are more likely to follow through
and do it. You have heard about relaxation tapes, and so now I will share
with you what I think are the best ones.

I have used these products for over 20 years. They are top quality and they
work IF you use them. This audio technology is called HPP which stands for
hypno peripheral processing.” It is a gentle “sensory overload”
technology, and it’s fun to use!

Created by Dr. Lloyd Glauberman Ph.D. this sound technology uses the
therapeutic patterns of famous psychotherapist Milton Erikson, and are
scripted stories that are relaxing and contain suggestions for your
subconscious mind.

What these suggestions do is to change your “internal dialogue” so that
you don’t respond to potentially stressful situations the way you normally
do. It’s like getting new programming so that you react much more calmly
and logically to the same situations that “used” to stress you out.

Here is the link:

http://age-better.info/hpp-stress-management

There is a video on the page by Dr. Glauberman explaining the principle
behind HPP.  It is a gentle “sensory overload” system that is relaxing
and effortless to use.

There are digital versions of these programs that can be instantly
downloaded eliminating the need for shipping.

There are also HPP products covering all kinds of issues, so explore the
site and check them out!

While on the subject of how to relax, I want to share with you one of my
favorite musical artists. Her name is Basia, and she is a Polish lady who
sings in a style that’s best described as Brazilian Jazz!

She has such a beautiful voice and unique style. She is an example of a
real international pop star!

Listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvVEBz8z82I

She was in her heyday in the 1980′s and kind of faded from sight. I think
she became a mother a that time and was focused on that role, but
resurfaced in 2011. She is currently working on a new CD, and presumably
after that she will resume touring.

If you ever get the chance to see one of her shows, don’t miss it!

There’s always hope for a better tomorrow! That’s something I sometimes
forget myself, and daily experiences remind me of.  I remember something
that happened years ago in regards to the mother of a good friend.

My friend Tom’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and got
progressively worse until the point where they had to carry her from room
to room, as she was permanently in a fetal position.

She did not remember anything, nor recognize anyone. I felt bad for Tom as
he had just recently lost his father and now his mom was so seriously ill.
Then one day I was at the gym and noticed this older woman at the counter.

She was just leaving and got into her car and drove away. Since I did not
recognize her, I asked Tom who she was. He replied that it was his mom, and
then proceeded to tell me how this apparent miracle occurred.

She had taken a turn for the worse and was rushed to the hospital where
when examined one of the doctors suspected that she did not have
Alzheimer’s, but rather another medical condition which could be treated
successfully.

The necessary treatment was given and she actually recovered completely!
She was now able to recognize her family, remember things, and actually was
able to resume driving her car! This to me is proof positive that miracles
do happen.

So NEVER give up. You never know when fate can turn in your favor and
things will work out for you. In many ways we create our own reality. Stay
positive and focus on the joy in life!

It feels like winter is here with a vengeance, and the temps are now
“seasonable,” for this time of year. So far so good for lack of colds and flu,
and I attribute it to keeping my energy levels up.

I also scale down my workouts in the cold, as it seems I get rundown if I do
too much intensity in workouts. What’s “too much intensity?” Well, for me
that something like a 300 pound squat for 20 repetitions,

That would be ok in the warm weather, but in the dead of winter it just
seems to suck too much energy from me, and knocks my immune system
for a loop.

Even if you exercise less in the winter, you burn more calories due to the
cold. So, do what you can comfortably manage, and when the weather
gets warmer you can always ramp it up a bit.

This is what I have learned (from overdoing it and getting sick) and so I
pass it on, and hope that you can avoid the mistakes that I made. I have
gradually developed a model of health around the concept of cell energy.

I will be talking a lot more about this in the near future and reviewing some
products I think can help. Remember that when you raise cell energy you
automatically lower your risk of cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.

So the “health model” I advocate will give you more energy and prevent
disease. This is the essence of what “anti-aging” is all about, and the only
issue for me is how to do it cheaply and conveniently.

I wanted to say a few things about magnesium, because magnesium
deficiency is VERY widespread in our society. Magnesium is used by your
body in over 300 vital chemical reactions and processes.

It’s a major factor in the “Crebs cycle” which is the process your body uses
to make energy. If you are deficient in it, your risk for things like, cancer,
heart disease, and stroke increase significantly.

You can find more information about it on my page here:

http://www.longevity-and-antiaging-secrets.com/benefits-of-magnesium.html

When your magnesium levels are low, your risk of chronic disease goes
up. Cancer and heart disease are the two biggest causes of death in this
country, so you can help protect yourself by getting sufficient  magnesium.

One thing you can do is to spray transdermal magnesium oil on your skin
after your shower or bath. You can also try a high quality magnesium
supplement that contains several forms of magnesium.

I recommend a good magnesium supplement because it’s really hard to
get enough in your diet, even if you eat the foods that are supposedly rich
in magnesium.

Our soils are depleted, so even a good diet doesn’t ensure that you will
get enough.

Also, stress burns up magnesium and so unless you live in a monastery
and eat organically grown vegetables all the time, you are most likely
deficient in this critically important mineral.

There are a number of good magnesium supplements on the market.
Here is one formulated by renowned cardiologist Stephen Sinatra:

http://www.age-better.info/full-spectrum-magnesium

Dr. Sinatra is among other things an expert on cell bio-energetics and has
created a high quality supplement line. His full spectrum magnesium
supplement is actually part of his metabolic cardiology protocol, which I will
be discussing in a future newsletter.

Current official recommendations for daily magnesium intake are 320mg
for women and 420 mg for men. This is probably on the low side in reality,
BUT it’s a good starting place.

I would suggest taken 200mg first thing in the morning, and again before
bed on an empty stomach. The night time dose should be at least 3 hours
after your last meal of the day. This should help your sleep, and also help
keep you “regular.”

As always, if you are on any medications, check with your doctor before
starting magnesium supplementation. There could be adverse interactions
with certain medication and so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

If your doctor is unfamiliar with magnesium or seems hostile to the concept
of nutritional supplementation, you should consider finding a doctor that at
least understands nutritional interventions in medicine.

Your health depends on it!

Now I have something beautiful to share with you. I won’t say too much
about it, because words are not adequate to describe it. I have a friend
who is not easily impressed, and this rendered him speechless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WhWDCw3Mng

Here is a quote that comes to mind:

“You are made or unmade by yourself; in the inventory of thought you
create by mental act, the instruments by which you destroy yourself; you
also fashion the tools with which you build for yourself heavenly mansions
of harmony, joy, strength and peace.”

“By the right choice and true application of thought, you ascend to Divine
Perfection; by the abuse and wrong application of thought, you descend
below the level of the assaulter. Between these two extremes are all the
grades of character, and you are the maker and ruler of them. Hail to the
making and maintaining of the best part of you, right here, right now.”

Love, happiness, health, success, are all things for which we supposedly
strive. What keeps us from attaining these things is our lack of worth.
We simply cannot believe deep down that we are deserving of all that.

As you go about dealing with the challenges of daily life, please remember
that what we ultimately become depends on ourselves. Think about your
parents, children, spouses, relatives, friends and all others who love you,
care about you and support you.

Their only wish is for you to be successful, healthy, and happy. However,
to be all those things, YOU must feel your own worth, and decide that you
will accept no other fate, than to become the person you were meant to be.
